What is a herbarium?
The herbaria were at the origin of the works to preserve and analyze the sheets of the plants or the flowers. We owe this invention to Luca Ghini (1500-1556), a famous Italian botanist. The herbaries are generally composed of plant sheets and dried flowers pressed between sheets of paper. If they were first intended for the scientific community to make a state of the botanical world, the herbaria have become decorative objects and are now trendy at home.
How are our herbaries create?
Our herbaria are created by hand by Pauline in our workshop. Each flower is added one by one on a beautiful sheet of paper depending on a design chosen beforehand. We work on simple forms that remind us of certain symmetries. Circles, lines. Our flowers are carefully chosen according to their characteristics, their shape, their color and their ability to keep. We have selected them after identified in our notebook of different species of flowers and plants that make up the flora. To find out more, you can find our different publications in our
Dedicated newspaper with dried flowers.

The steps to create a herbarium like a botanist:
Step 1: The harvest: You should look for the plant or the flowers you target. For that, you will have to go looking for him during a harvest. For the biggest plants, we advise you to take only one sample. In the end, for each species you will need a sheet.
Step 2: Drying: Once the plant or flowers have been harvested, you must dry it. For that, the traditional technique is to dry the species chosen between two boards.
Step 3: Create a page for each species in a dedicated notebook or book: on a sheet of paper, glue your species (plant or flower). On all specimens, we advise to add the details (place of collection, date, name of the species ...) and information on the different varieties.
As you can see, no need for equipment. It is a very simple activity that allows you to create a collection with your children. It is ideal for urban people who do not have a garden.
