Ikon X Flowrette, 3D printing & design in the heart of creation

In addition to products that we create directly at the workshop, we like to highlight other craftsmen through different collaborations. It is a way for us to highlight crafts and know-how. This time, we present the work of Laurent, the founder of the company Ikon. Laurent is passionate about decoration and is a specialist in 3D printing. Ikon X Flowrette is already two collections of vases and we leave you the words of Laurent to tell this collaboration.

After obtaining my graphic arts diploma in 1996 in Nice, my city of origin and some experiences as artistic director in the communication agency, I launched myself in freelance. As a true design and graphics enthusiast, I touch everything: 2D/3D graphics, WebDesign, Mode & Decoration.
Installed on the Promenade des Anglais in Nice (France) Ikon is a design studio and a young brand specializing in the creation of decorative items made with digital design and manufacturing tools, such as 3D printing.
It is a constant search for shapes and materials / colors in tune with the times. Our collections with geometric shapes contrast with the irregularity of flowers and combine perfectly to be one.
Protecting the planet with 3D printing technology allows us to use durable (biodegradable) materials such as recycled wood as well as corn starch (bioplastic).
How did you get to this brand Ikon
After more than 24 years spent in the "virtual" world of design, I felt the need to materialize my ideas. The wish to be able to control the manufacture of my creations pushed me to train in 3D printing.
From ideas in ideas, the vase appeared to me as a volume where I could express myself fully. After prototypages and presentation with professionals in the decorative and florists, I decide to embark on marketing by creating the brand deposited Ikon.

Seeing my creations sell to the 4 corners of the world is probably my greatest satisfaction!
Collaborating and designating for international brands allows me to get out of my comfort zone.
Being able to share Eco-Responsible values and "Made in France" was one of my primary goals.
My creation process is to immerse myself in my trend notebook that I eat daily via different media. I start my first ideas in the form of sketch and then go to 3D modeling. I print, reflect and optimize my 3D printing settings to get the best aesthetic result.
A few words about the Collab Ikon X Flowrette
I knew Flowrette by browsing social networks and discovering their floral compositions, I had a real crush! I immediately wanted to contact them to offer them a collaboration in order to complete their collection of vases for dried flowers. It is to believe that they read in my thoughts, because a few weeks later, they were the ones who contacted me!
After a few exchanges to establish the different constraints, I offered them a unique vase design designed with very graphic oblique lines playing with the reflections of light, all that can harmonize to perfection with the Flowrette compositions. Today these vases are exclusively for sale on Flowrette.com
